To comply with the lifting and slinging equipment regulations and meet the code of practice laid down by the British Standards for the safe use of cranes, Hewden training offers a Slinger / Signaller training course.

The Slinger / Signaller training course is aimed at inexperienced workers who are required to carry out slinging and signalling for the movement of loads with lifting equipment.

This training program has duration of 4 days and meets the requirements for CPCS approval with a final CPCS assessment.

To provide delegates with the training and knowledge to enable them to carry out slinging and signalling duties in the movement of loads with lifting equipment.

The delegates will be able to explain or carry out the following:

• Explain the legislation for LOLER 98, Puwer 98, HASAW 74 regulations.
• Explain the code of practice BS7121 / 1 & 3
• Identify safety signage and explain its meaning.
• Identify documentation and relative certifications for lifting equipment and accessories.
• Explain the need for awareness of electricity on site on when lifting and slinging and other proximity hazards.
• Explain to need for correct PPE in lifting and slinging operations.
• Prevention and control of accidents.
• Explain the methods of rating slings, chains, shackles etc.
• Demonstrate correct hand signals for directing lift operations.
• Explain the safe use of lifting / spreader beams.
• Explain considerations for risk assessment when carrying out lifting operations.
• Demonstrate correct techniques in lifting operations.

Successful delegates will be awarded a red CPCS trained operator card if an in date operative’s health and safety test has been achieved.
