To comply with the lifting and slinging equipment regulations and meet the code of practice laid down by the British Standards for the safe use of cranes, Hewden training offers a Truck Mounted Crane Training Program.
The Truck Mounted Crane Training Program is aimed at inexperienced workers who are required to undertake the operation of mobile truck mounted cranes for the movement of loads.
Delegates may be new to operating cranes or have limited experience.
This training program has a duration of 10 days and meets the requirements for CPCS approval with a final CPCS assessment.
Course Aim
To provide delegates with the training to enable them to confirm their understanding of safe and correct operation of mobile truck mounted cranes in the movement of loads with lifting equipment.
Course Outcomes
The delegates will be able to explain or carry out the following:
- Explain the legislation for LOLER 98, Puwer 98, HASAW 74 regulations
- Explain the code of practice BS7121 / 1 & 3
- Identify safety signage and explain its meaning
- Explain the need for awareness of electricity on site when lifting and slinging and other proximity hazards
- Explain the need for correct PPE in lifting and slinging operations
- Prevention and control of accidents
- Demonstrate correct hand signals for following lift instructions
- Explain considerations for risk assessment when carrying out lifting operations
- Explain the pre-start checks carried out for mobile truck mounted cranes
- Demonstrate correct use of outrigger controls and operation
- Demonstrate correct operation for all crane controls in applications loaded and unloaded
- Explain safe load indicators and safe working loads
- Explain correct use of duty charts
- Explain assessment of boom deflection
- Demonstrate safe slewing of loads under controlled no swing conditions
- Explain the driver’s legal responsibilities and duties
- Demonstrate correct hook block reeving procedures
- Explain how to eliminate boom deflection
- Explain safe use of fly jibs
- Explain best practices of slinging and signalling
- Explain correct use of documentation and how to read a method statement
- Demonstrate correct positioning of cranes for carrying out safe lifting of loads
Certification
Successful delegates will be awarded a red CPCS trained operator certificate (mobile crane endorsement) if an in date operative’s health and safety test has been achieved.
