Finning Appoints New Head of Safety, Health, Environment And Quality

Former Environment Agency Senior Joins The Finning Team

Finning Group UK has appointed Jim Gray to the newly created role of Head of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ). Supported by a team of 15 specialist staff covering England, Wales and Scotland, Jim will spearhead improvement programmes across all lines of business within the group including Heavy Construction, General Construction, Finning Power Systems and Hewden.

Following the appointment, Jim will also join Finning Group UK's Executive Team and stresses that his main priority is to introduce a 'culture of ownership' within the business for all safety, health, environmental and quality-related issues.

Jim commented, "We need everyone across Finning in the UK to recognise that safety, health, the environment and quality, is everyone's business. By doing this, we can continue to build on our already impressive record and improve standards right across the business."

Previously employed by the Environment Agency, Jim was responsible for regulatory policies and for modernizing the way the Agency regulates business. Prior to that, Jim held a number of senior positions in health and safety in chemical, engineering and nuclear sectors.

Mike Davies, HR Director of Finning Group UK said, "As a business, Finning Group UK has gone through substantial restructuring in the last year as part of a programme to improve performance. Health, Safety, the environment and quality are always at the forefront of everything we do and Jim's appointment means that we now have the skills and experience to improve standards across the group from one central point.

Jim is married with three children and in his spare time enjoys fishing and going to the gym.
