Hewden Helps Raise The Roof At Contractors Party

Construction workers at Kings Cross St Pancras Station downed tools and partied the night away recently to celebrate the completion of the new Channel Tunnel rail link at the historic London station.

Hosted by Union Railways Ltd, staff from all the companies involved joined the celebrations held under a 90-tonne giant marquee, courtesy of De Boer, erected and suspended 10 metres high by six 100-tonne Hewden cranes.

De Boer, a temporary accommodation rental company, provided the entire structure, including the roof, support legs and in-fill structure.

The nature of the lift required the roof of the marquee to be held in three separate sections for several hours, while the support legs were positioned and fitted using Hewden's tele-handlers and access equipment.

Stuart Chorley of Hewden said: "The station is one of the finest historic landmarks in London and the work conducted there has been first class. Because of the enormity of the job, it was only fair to hold a completion party equal to it – I think it was achieved."
