Hewden, the national, multi-product hire specialist has launched a new 24-hour breakdown service to ensure the safe and reliable operation of its plant, access and power equipment, and to minimise the cost and inconvenience of any downtime.
The new service has been developed in response to the changing working patterns of its customers and is available throughout Great Britain, 365 days of the year.
Stuart Wild, area operations manager for Hewden said:
"The traditional 'Monday to Friday' working hours are becoming a thing of the past. Customers are now working longer and in some cases, particularly in the events industry, they're working throughout the weekend too."
"In the event of a breakdown, the new 24-hour service gives customers the peace of mind that their plant and equipment will be returned to safe operation promptly at a very competitive price, anywhere in Great Britain."
To improve the efficiency of its service team, Hewden has also invested in over 200 new vehicles, which are now being rolled out across its depot network. The new fleet includes the Volkswagen Caddy, featuring a 1.6L low-emission diesel engine, and the fuel-efficient Ford Transit Trend.
To help meet the Freight Transport Association's (FTA) recommendations for the safe loading of vans, the Hewden fleet has been fitted with professional racking and restraint straps, as well as full steel bulkheads.
The interior racking is fully re-useable, meaning that when an old vehicle is decommissioned, the equipment can be removed, adapted and re-installed into a new vehicle, avoiding the need for new systems to be manufactured.
